Comfort & Long-Term Planning

Extractions & Bone Grafting

Removing a tooth is rarely just about that one tooth. Every extraction here is planned with an eye toward what comes next — protecting the bone underneath and setting up the best possible foundation for an implant, bridge, or denture down the road.

Protecting What's Underneath

Removing a tooth without a plan can cost you bone. Removing it with a plan can set up what comes next.

Bone behaves a lot like muscle — without regular use, it can begin to atrophy. A tooth root keeps the surrounding bone stimulated every time you bite and chew; once that root is gone, so is the signal that tells the bone to maintain itself. Left untreated, the surrounding bone can begin to shrink within weeks — often the very bone a future implant would need. Bone grafting placed at the same time as your extraction helps preserve that ridge, so more of your original bone and shape may still be there to work with if you decide to move forward with an implant later.

This is planned as part of your visit, not an afterthought — using imaging to map your bone and jaw before your dentist ever refers you over.

What's Included

Extractions and grafting, planned around what's next

Simple & Surgical Extractions

From straightforward single-tooth removals to more involved surgical extractions, each is handled with sedation options matched to your comfort level.

Socket Preservation Grafting

Bone graft material placed directly into the extraction site to help maintain the ridge's width and height for future treatment.

Ridge Augmentation & Site Development

For sites that need more rebuilding before an implant is possible, additional grafting can help develop the site over time.

What to Expect

Planned with imaging, matched to your comfort, followed up with care

Imaging-Guided Planning

3D imaging maps your bone and anatomy before your procedure, so grafting decisions are made with a clear picture rather than guesswork.

Comfort Matched to the Procedure

Sedation is titrated to you and matched to the complexity of your extraction, whether it's a single tooth or several sites in one visit.

Recovery Coordinated With Your Dentist

Follow-up care is coordinated between our team and your referring dentist, who stays part of your recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about extractions & bone grafting

Do I need a bone graft every time a tooth is removed?
Not necessarily. Whether grafting makes sense depends on the tooth’s location, your anatomy, and whether you’re considering an implant or other treatment down the road. This is discussed as part of your consultation.
Sedation is titrated to you, so discomfort during the procedure itself is well managed throughout. Afterward, some post-op discomfort is normal and typically eases within about three days, though this can vary from patient to patient. At-home care instructions, along with techniques like PRF (platelet-rich fibrin, made from your own blood) placed at the site, are often used to support a smoother, faster recovery.
Healing timelines vary by patient and by site — often several months. Your specific timeline is mapped out at consultation using imaging of your bone and anatomy.
Sometimes immediate implant placement is appropriate, but not always — it depends on your bone quality and the site’s condition. This is evaluated on a case-by-case basis at consultation.
